In November 2016, the BBC’s Escape to the Country programme filmed part of their series at The Yorkshire Air Museum. As is often the case with television broadcasts, everything goes quiet for a while before the final production is broadcast.
Broadcast almost one year later in November 2017, here’s the part of the one hour programme that was shot with our team at the Museum. Museum engineering volunteer Graham Sharpe shows presenter Jules Hudson around our SE5 biplane, while director Ian Reed explains more about the Museum’s work and also talks about Sir George Cayley, the Yorkshireman considered to be the father of aviation.
You can view the Museum’s element of the final programme below.
The whole programme was in fact a great showcase for many things in Yorkshire and Boundless, the production company who create it, did a superb job and were great fun to work with on the day. This type of production often has a shelf life of many years, so be sure to check your TV schedules for regular re-runs of it in future.
